Tracey Lindsay (left) and Kathrine Way (right) are Chartered Accountants. They have owned The Hive since early 2013. They are proud to work with a wide range of clients from individuals and sole traders, to partnerships, trusts, and companies. Their clients come from many industries including farming, viticulture, horticulture, manufacturing, transport, trades, services, retail, hospitality, and accommodation. Kathrine, Tracey and the team, support well established businesses as well as new emerging ones.
The two women love that they work within the Wairarapa community. Kathrine runs the Masterton office in Queen Street, while Tracey operates the Martinborough office in Jellicoe Street. They lead a team of fourteen between the two offices, employing locals. Kathrine and Tracey are especially proud that all of the accounting work is carried out right here in the Wairarapa and not outsourced to overseas workers, which some accounting firms do these days.
Tracey enjoys working alongside her clients. She likes getting to know not only their business but the people themselves. Kathrine agrees, she says accounting is more than just numbers it’s actually about the people behind the numbers so building close relationships with clients is very important.
Kathrine and Tracey both appreciate clients give encouraging feedback. With comments such as ‘you’re one of our team’ and ‘I love coming in here, it feels like family’. They say that this shows the personal side of their work, which is far from the serious and boring accounting stereotype. The pair get a lot of satisfaction from supporting clients through both the good and the tough times.
Kathrine and Tracey like that clients can drop in to discuss business with them or one of the team anytime. In fact, they always enjoy a good yarn with clients when the opportunity arises. Both Kathrine and Tracey say they like to be known as approachable and they talk to people in language that they can understand. The pair offer a personalised service based on what each client needs and how they like to do things, which means being flexible with accounting software. Clients are not forced to use a particular system which means they can choose the system that best suits their needs.
The Hive offers a range of accounting services including Xero and other accounting software setup and training. They also offer a complimentary appointment for new clients, which enables them to meet Kathrine or Tracey to discuss their accounting needs and the solutions that The Hive can provide.
